Instalar Node.js en GNU/Linux

Instalaremos Node.js en Debian 12.4 sin embargo aplica a cualquier distro basado en debian. Los comandos se aplican en la terminal de Linux.

1.- Descargamos el paquete binario para Linux desde la página de Node.js https://nodejs.org/en/download

2.- Descomprimimos el paquete descargado node-v20.11.0-linux-x64.tar.xz en /usr/local/lib/nodejs.

  • Si no se tiene la carpeta /usr/local/lib/nodejs se debe crear con: 
sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/lib/nodejs
  • Se descomprime con: (Es necesario colocar el nombre completo del paquete descargado)
sudo tar -xJvf node-v20.11.0-linux-x64.tar.xz -C /usr/local/lib/nodejs

3.- Se edita el archivo ~/.profile con la versión, la distro y la ruta del binario.

  • Para esto se puede usar vim, nano como editor de texto.
vim ~/.profile
  • Se refresca el ~/.profile para aplicar los cambios.
. ~/.profile

4.- Verificar si se ha instalado correctamente

node

 

5.- Para ejecutar node, npm y npx en modo super-usuario se debe crear los siguientes enlaces:

sudo ln -s /usr/local/lib/nodejs/node-v20.11.0-linux-x64/bin/node /usr/bin/node
sudo ln -s /usr/local/lib/nodejs/node-v20.11.0-linux-x64/bin/npm /usr/bin/npm
sudo ln -s /usr/local/lib/nodejs/node-v20.11.0-linux-x64/bin/npx /usr/bin/npx

Listo, ya podemos usar node para desarrollo back-end y front-end.
